| Business requirements
First Group approached Yellowbus Solutions back in 2002 with requirements for a medium sized network, hardware support and internet connectivity. We worked closely with First Group to design, install and configure a network to meet their high standards and to satisfy their business needs.
Over the past five years First Group’s business has rapidly grown and with it so has their IT requirements. Our network design and implementation has allowed First Groups network to expand in relation to their business.
We has also been commissioned to design and develop First Group’s web presence www.first-careers.co.uk. Offering SQL database driven websites we were able to offer First Group a professional online job search facility to allow them to keep their clients up to date easily and efficiently.
By taking a proactive approach to IT support at First Group, and tailoring solutions according to the specific needs of the business, a working relationship has been built which allows us to meet the ongoing requirements of their business.

We implemented an Active Directory domain environment for central management combined with a link to the internet for email, SMS and website administration. We also implemented a monthly housekeeping schedule to pro-actively catch potential problems and so minimise downtime.
| Technology Used
We have implemented a robust link to the internet using T1 (fibre optic) technologies with secure IPSEC VPN links. First Groups are protected by a combination of NAT, Firewall and Intrusion detection systems. We maintain their suite of servers and a user base of 30 to 50.
We also implemented a 2 tier backup solution as data safety and backup is a key to their needs and business operation. |
